McCloskey retires as Highlands American Legion Commander

Ed McCloskey was honored by fellow Post Legionnaires last month at the Mountain Laurel Tennis Club after stepping down as Commander of American Legion Post 370, Highlands, N.C. after almost 9 years of service.

McCloskey received a plaque from Post 370 members in recognition of his loyalty, devoted service, and leadership in upholding the principles of the American Legion for God and Country as the Post Commander.

During his tenure and under his leadership, Post 370 grew in numbers from 8 to the present membership of 68.

Also, during his tenure, Post 370 received accolades for achieving a 100 percent renewal rate for the last three years.

Paul Schowalter, a U.S. Air Force Veteran combat pilot with 30 years of service, has assumed the role of Commander, Post 370.
