The Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce recently hired a new Executive Director, Susan Gregory.
“We are pleased to officially announce that we extended an offer to Susan Gregory as our new Executive Director for our Chamber effective immediately and she accepted,” said Chamber President Ashton Harris. “We all felt that Susan’s on-going commitment and vision for our Chamber, experience as a leader combined with her skill sets made her a worthy candidate to consider.
Gregory previously worked with former Executive Director Taulbee as the Visitor Center Manager at the Chamber’s office. Taulbee passed away in November of last year.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Chamber and appreciate the support from the board members, Chamber members, and the community,” said Gregory. “I am proud of how our community continues to come together to embrace a challenging leadership transition at the Chamber, and it is not lost on me that I am standing on the shoulders of two great predecessors, Thomas Taulbee and Stephanie Edwards.”
Knowing she had big shoes to fill, she was excited to accept the challenge leading the Cashiers Area Chamber forward.
“My word for 2024 is collaboration because I am most excited about the collaboration between myself and the Chamber board of directors, members, and community partners,” said Gregory. “I look forward to enhancing how the Chamber supports its members and the Cashiers Area.”
Gregory grew up in St. Petersburg, Fla., and spent every summer of her youth at her grandparents’ home in Glenville.
“My maternal grandparents bought our family land in Glenville in 1957, so I am part of a third generation, and my two daughters are part of a fourth generation, to cherish this wonderful part of Western North Carolina,” she said. “Most of all, I love the natural beauty of the Cashiers area and the strong community bond my family shares with multigenerational families and neighbors. I also enjoy getting to know our community neighbors and friends and the many visitors who enjoy visiting the area.”
Gregory is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate with a Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law. She worked as an Elder Law and Estate Planning attorney on the west coast of Florida.
