The Summit Archery Team sent 15 archers to the North Carolina State Bullseye Tournament in Winston-Salem on Feb. 16-17.
As a High School Team, we came in 6th place out of thirteen high school teams! Additionally, we were only 186 points from qualifying as a Team for the National Bullseye Tournament! Wow! We earned 2913 points with a score of 3099 needed to compete at Nationals.

As individuals, Summit Archers had a fantastic day of shooting! Nine Summit Archers shot new personal bests (PB) at the State Tournament, ending the season with a great showing!
There were 983 students from 45 schools across North Carolina who qualified and participated in this year’s State Tournament.

Summit has made great strides over the last two years as our archers have learned how to shoot a compound bow and begun using more advanced skills to shoot more consistently. Last year, our first year competing, we learned even more as we participated in tournaments across North and South Carolina. We also had the opportunity to see our archers shoot for the first time at the North Carolina State Bullseye Tournament and experience competition on a large scale.

Once again, our archers have competed in tournaments across North and South Carolina this year while also competing at our first home tournament, Archery on the Summit.
Our scores from Archery on the Summit qualified us to compete at the North Carolina State Bullseye Tournament this year as a High School Team using a small school exemption. This is the first year there has been a requirement to qualify for the State Tournament. Our “high school” team comprised three high school students, six middle school students, and six elementary school students. Our Summit Archers did a great job!
Congratulations Summit Archers for a job well done!
Additionally, two Summit Archers have qualified for the 2024 NASP Eastern Nationals Bullseye Tournament in May.
Congratulations to Zoe Zimmer for her 2nd Place qualifying score and Kendalyn Buck for her 9th Place qualifying score! Zoe and Kendalyn were 2 of 3 archers who qualified as individuals in their divisions rather than as a team, a very high achievement!
Thank you for a fantastic archery season again this year! I look forward to seeing Summit Archers continue to grow as we become more competitive on the local, state, and national levels. Look for an email later this year about “Summit Archery Summer Camp” as we prepare for another great season during the 24-25 school year.
