Highlands Middle School girls volleyball team took on Murphy in their season opener at home last Monday and won in a tie-breaker, 2-1.

Highlands Coach Ashlynn Wilson said overall the girls did a great job.

“I think we did pretty good for a season opener and missing two of our starters,” said Wilson. “The girls played scrappy, they were quick to get to the ball and played good defense at the net.”

After last week’s game, Wilson said they need to work on communication and getting comfortable on the court without all of their players.

Highlands takes on Blue Ridge on the road tonight beginning at 4 p.m.
