Highlands varsity volleyball team was honored at yesterday’s Macon County School District Board meeting in Highlands. The girls earned the 2018 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Team Academic Award. At the board meeting the players were given a certificate in recognition of their academic honor as an athlete. The certificates were presented by Superintendent Chris Baldwin and School District Board Member Stephanie McCall. AVCA’s website shows that the entire team had to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 in a 4.0 scale for the 2017-18 season to earn this award.
