Paul Hilliard was the featured speaker at The Rotary Club of Highlands’ October 16, 2018 meeting.  Introduced by Rotarian Doc Wilson, Hilliard gave a riveting presentation of how oil affected the World War II. Hillard has done extensive research on WWII and outlined how drastically the mechanization of war changed with the implementation of oil and petroleum. Jane Chalker was the featured speaker at the Rotary Club of Highlands’ Tuesday, October 9 meeting. Jane presented updates about the incredible progress of numerous ongoing projects in Haiti, which include building a school, church, and the implementation of a community water system. On September 20, 2018, The Rotary Club of Highlands held its annual Craft Beer Night at the OEI Farm. Coordinated by Christy Kelly, Keith Crawford and The Ugly Dog Pub, the event also benefited from generous contributions from Old Edwards Hospitality Group and Ray and Diane McPhail. The event raised $5,500 and all of these proceeds were donated to the Highlands Fire Department to provide assistance to Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael victims.
