Highlands girls varsity basketball team dug a hole from the beginning and could not get back on track against Cherokee losing on Tuesday at home 77-44.

Highlands next plays at 6 p.m. away against Rosman.

Pictured below is the climactic finish with about 20 seconds to go on the clock when Highlands Reese Schmitt brought the ball up court and had a pass grabbed out of the air by Cherokee Jacee Smith. Smith made a fast break down the court to sink a lay up at the buzzer. Fans from both sides of the bleachers erupted in cheers.
