Summit Charter School had a lot to celebrate at the Athletic Awards Ceremony held at the Orchard earlier this month. Summit Athletic Director Jeremy Robinson said it’s important to take the time and recognize these students for their hard work and dedication.
“We celebrate our students every day, but we are especially excited to recognize their athletic achievements with an end of the year ceremony,” he said. “Many of our athletes compete on multiple sports teams throughout the year so they flow from one season to the next without having much time to reflect and celebrate their accomplishments.”
He added that Summit sports had an exceptional year with four teams (Girls CC, Girls BB, Middle School Golf, and Girls Soccer) finishing undefeated and 8th-grade girls basketball team who won the Tri-State Championship three years in a row.
“Participating on sports teams is a great experience for our students,” said Robinson. “They learn the value of teamwork, commitment, dedication, and hard work. It’s special to see them learn and improve throughout the year. You hope the lessons the kids learn playing sports will carry over into their lives and help them be well rounded and successful.”
Another achievement Robinson noted was the High School Golf Team (Win Dyleski, Tyler Parr, and Abby Vanderwiele), which is the first high school sports team ever at Summit.
“We are very proud of them and look forward to building our high school sports program next year adding multiple sports,” he said.
While high school sports at Summit next year have yet to be finalized, Robinson said it’s safe to say they will field basketball and volleyball teams.
