Highlands varsity volleyball team hosted Rosman on Tuesday and went set for set, taking it to 5 for the tiebreaker; but the Lady Highlanders defended their home turf and won 3-2.

Ava was injured midway through the match when she jumped to block, landed on a Rosman player’s foot, and twisted her ankle. The Rosman player was not injured.

“It hurts but I can walk,” said Ava. “And I couldn’t be prouder of the way we played, we hustled and really worked well together. It was an amazing game.”
Ava’s ankle is improving, but she may be sidelined for a couple of weeks.

Highlands Jeslyn Head was dropping bombs from the service line all night against Rosman on Tuesday.
Highlands Jeslyn Head was raining fierce serves on Rosman all day and said Highlands maintained a positive attitude and talked throughout every game, and it helped pull off the win.

Head added Rosman’s tips were surgically accurate.
“They placed the ball so well, they’d just see an opening and put it right there,” said Head.
Highlands next plays tonight (Sept. 27) at 5 p.m. at home against Rabun Gap.
