The Lady Highlanders varsity volleyball team came out swinging against Hiwassee Dam on Tuesday at home and walked away victorious with a final of 3-0.

Highlands Jordan Carrier was killing it all night against Hiwassee Dam.
Highlands Jordan Carrier said there was a lot on the line, especially if Highlands wanted to catch the Highlands versus Blue Ridge soccer game on Wednesday.
“We did pretty good overall,” said Carrier. “We really wanted to win, but she (Coach Katy Postell) said if we didn’t win in three, we couldn’t go watch the soccer game tomorrow.”
Sets weren’t handed to Highlands, Anne Marie Moore said they had to work for each point.
“We definitely had our weak parts, but we fought back in every set,” said Moore. “When you’re down like that you can’t give up.”

She added that she didn’t think Hiwassee Dam’s team chemistry was flowing that night.
“They just weren’t working well as a team,” said Moore. “Then you find their weak spots and focus on them. Then they make so many more errors.”

Editor’s Note: It turns out, the delay was caused by me because someone complained about my camera and I received a verbal scolding. I sincerely apologize to all coaches, players, and parents; and I appreciate that person saying something. After my public humiliation (not really, the refs were super nice), Highlands defended my honor and dedicated the night’s win to me (in case Ran writes a ‘Heart of the Blue Ridge’ part 2, I want that to be on the record). Thank you and well done Lady Highlanders. At least we got a pretty cool pic out of it during the delay.
