Highlands junior varsity volleyball team hit the road last week on Thursday and took on Blue Ridge Early College that ended with the Lady Highlanders victorious, 2-0.

Highlands Zaia Rodriguez wins a tip against BREC Macy Heltsley on Thursday.
Highlands Coach Margie Potts said the win ties them for first place in conference with the Lady Bobcats and is something they’ve been working towards all season.
“It was one of those games where I felt like the girls came out and truly gave it all they had,” said Potts. “They left it all on the court, they came to win, and they did.”

The Lady Bobcats put up a good fight against Highlands on Thursday at home and had plenty to celebrate despite the 2-0 loss.
BREC by no means handed the win to Highlands, the Lady Bobcats fought hard and Potts said they made them work for it.
“They should be so proud of themselves,” she said. “They worked really hard as a team, the didn’t give up, and they fought for every point.”

Highlands is now tied for first place in the conference with BREC.
