After a close game in the first set, Highlands junior varsity volleyball team took down Cherokee on Tuesday at home with a final of 2-0.
Highlands Coach Margie Potts said the Lady Highlanders did a great job and everyone had a hand in the victory.
“The girls played really well,” said Potts. “Everybody played and everyone contributed to this win.”
Highlands Anna Nichols was sending hits Cherokee’s way throughout both sets keeping the pressure on their back line.
“Our passes and our communication were really good, plus our serves were awesome,” said Nichols. “We always feel like more of a team when everyone gets to participate.”
Ella Crook said they stuck to the fundamentals and we’re able to walk away with the ‘W.’
“We all communicated really well, and we kept a positive attitude,” said Crook. “Our season didn’t start out so great, but we have gotten a lot better.”
Highlands next plays against Blue Ridge in the first round of the Little Smoky Mountain Conference at 4 p.m. at Blue Ridge on Oct. 21 (Monday).
