It came down to the final minute when Summit Charter High School girls basketball team hosted Eagle Ridge on Thursday and took things to overtime that ended in victory with a final of 33-28.
Editor’s Note: It should be noted that Summit High School’s girls basketball team has one player in high school, Caroline Woods. All other players are middle schoolers. Pretty awesome win.
A crowd clad in red in support of Summit alumni Jackson Hall who is battling cancer was going ballistic during the final minutes of the game. Several Summit players said playing in support of Hall was a big motivator. To learn more about Hall click HERE.
“In overtime I was just thinking we have to win because this game is for Jackson,” said Summit AE Woods. “Our defense has gotten better and we put up a lot of shots, but after it was over it felt great.”
In the final minute, Summit Chloe Crawford made some clutch freethrows that Sarah Betty said she had faith in Crawford the entire time.
“This was one of our hardest games this season,” said Betty. “Some games you know who’s going to win at halftime. This one could have gone either way because we were tied for so long. But we knew Chloe could make those shots and we all had faith in her.”
The Lady Bears next play against Victory Christian on Feb. 11.
