BREC boys varsity basketball team loses to Hiwassee Dam

Blue Ridge Early College boys varsity basketball team hosted Hiwassee Dam last Tuesday and lost a tough game with a final of 56-42.

“I thought they played really good and played really hard, we had just one bad quarter that we didn’t play to our potential and that’s what cost us,” said BREC Coach Cristian Mireles.

Mireles said Taylor has been a great player and leader for the Bobcats. He added the Bobcats will miss the defensive pressure he brings to the court each game.

Taylor has played all four years of his high school career, but one of the games that sticks out in his memory is scoring 13 points during his freshman year against Walhalla.

“I’m going to miss just being a Bobcat and all our fans,” said Taylor. “Tonight is sad, and we didn’t play too good, but it’s not like this is the last time I’m ever going to play basketball, I’m going to play forever.”

The Bobcats next play today in the first round of the Little Smoky Mountain Conference tournament in Highlands at 5:30 p.m. against Hiwassee Dam.
