Blue Ridge Middle School boys baseball team took on Fairview last Thursday on the road for the season opener that ended in a hefty loss, 13-3.

Blue Ridge Coach Elijah Reece said the Bobcats didn’t have as much practice time as he hoped, but he likes what he saw on the field.
“We played really well to have had only one practice on the field because of rain,” said Reece. “We have two girls again this year and they both did really well. Vanessa Russell went 2-3 from the plate and Isabella Moody made a couple great plays at second base.”

He added that Eric Puskarich and Levi Walters both pitched solid games.
“Overall, we are young and inexperienced team, but we have a few returning from last year that will help carry us,” said Reece.

Blue Ridge next plays at 4 p.m. at home on March 16 against Smoky Mountain.
