Rotary Club of Highlands welcomes new president

The Rotary Club of Highlands met on Tuesday via ZOOM to install their new President Zach Claxton, who takes the gavel from outgoing President Sherry Holt.

Claxton, is the Club’s 75th President, has been a full-time resident of Highlands since 2004, and a homeowner since 1997. Prior to his move to Highlands, he had a 35-year career with Sun Trust Bank in Atlanta as a division Operations Manager. He has been a member of The Rotary Club of Highlands since 2005.

For several years, Zach was a volunteer math tutor at The Literacy Council and was the Highlands GED Instructor for seven years. He is past President of The Literacy Council Board, past Secretary of the Art League of Highlands-Cashiers and its current Treasurer and acting Publicist.

Zach is also a member of American Legion Post 370 and a member of The Bascom. He enjoys oil painting, an avocation that has evolved into a small business.
