Highlands Mountaintop Rotary supports flu shots at Community Care Clinic

Flu season is upon us and a donation from the Mountaintop Rotary Club will help the Highlands Community Care Clinic to fund flu vaccines and offer free shots to those with no insurance coverage.

The Community Care Clinic of Highlands and Cashiers is the area’s only free medical clinic for those without health insurance.

In addition to twice weekly free clinics, the nonprofit organization offers a behavioral health program providing counseling for individuals with depression, anxiety and other mental health concerns as well as support program for those suffering from Diabetes.

Blood pressure checks are done at the clinic daily with no appointment. A Gynecology clinic is staffed by two volunteer OB/GYN physicians. The clinic also offers several programs to help patients get medications prescribed by clinic doctors or medical providers.

Mountaintop Rotary President Kirk Dornbush presented the donation check for $2145 and said that the repeated donations from the club are a testament to the fine work done by the team at the clinic, which is led by past President of the Club and Clinic founder, Jerry Hermanson. “This year, more than past years, flu shots will be in great demand and Mountaintop Rotary is proud to be able to help the clinic provide them,” said Dornbush.
