The Village Green will once again provide an easy and enjoyable visit with Santa experience 2-5 p.m. on Nov. 27 in the Commons Hall on Frank Allen Road.
“Santa’s annual visit the day after Thanksgiving is a beloved tradition for The Village Green,” said Ann Self, Executive Director.
Traditionally, Santa hears the Christmas wishes of hundreds of children of all ages. However, this year will be a bit different to implement safety protocols and procedures.
Perhaps the biggest change is that the number of visitors will be limited to ensure a safe and excellent event for everyone.
For this reason, visits will be by ticketed appointment only.
“We will have five thirty-minute time slots to accommodate 25 visitors with 15 minutes in between appointments to sanitize the venue,” said Self.
She added that with the Governor’s orders only 10 will be allowed in the building at a time.
Other safety measures include safe distancing, temperature checks, mask-wearing in line, and hand sanitizing stations.

This will be the first year for Santa to visit in Commons Hall, the newly completed cultural events and community activities building in The Village Green on Frank Allen Road.
“Santa will be getting a festive upgrade not to mention protection from possible inclement weather as in past years,” said Self.
Visitors will want to be sure to bring their letters for Santa to go in the North Pole mailbox.
Another modification this year will be professional photography.
“In the past, families and friends have been able to take their own photos, however because of social distancing we are not able to accommodate individual photography,” said Self. “With the limited number of visitors and time allocation, we need to keep the line moving smoothly and precisely.”
She said having professional photography will provide for a better-quality photo.
“Bring those wide smiles otherwise hidden behind a mask,” she said.
Self added that this has been a very different and difficult year for The Village Green.
“We have been forced to cancel, postpone, or modify all of our events,” she said noting that The Village Green has made every determination with modeling social responsibility and protecting the health of the greater community as the prevailing priorities. “We are grateful to be able to move forward with Santa’s visit with these key considerations. We also feel it is important to promote some holiday joy this year.”
The Village Green is the 13+ acre privately conserved park for public enjoyment in the heart of Cashiers. Despite the park’s tremendous popularity, few people realize that The Village Green is not a county funded park.
The Village Green depends on donations to fund operations, maintenance, and community events like Christmas On the Green featuring a visit with Santa.
