Lady Bobcats celebrate Senior Night and win against Cherokee

Blue Ridge Early College girls varsity volleyball team recognized its senior players last week before taking on Cherokee at home.

BREC seniors include starters Chloe Fowler, Maddy Potts, and Charlotte Sherrill; and strong supporting senior Ella Day.

BREC Coach Cindy Fowler said losing these four players is difficult, but the Lady Bobcats have some great players ready to step up next year.

“It’s always difficult, but with this group of seniors more so,” said Cindy. “We have been with this group of girls since the 8th grade, so we have had the opportunity to watch them grow and accomplish the things they have. Their talent will be missed, but maybe their leadership will be missed the most.”

After recognizing each senior for their athletic volleyball achievements, the Lady Bobcats defeated Cherokee with a final, 3-0. Despite the score, Cindy said it was a hard-earned victory.

“We played well, Cherokee is much improved this year,” said Cindy. “It took a good effort to get the win.”

Anything else: I would like to say thank you to my coaches and teammates for the best four years of high school career.
