Lady Highlanders lose to Franklin on the road

Highlands girls varsity volleyball team took on Franklin on the road on Monday and put up a tough fight, but could’t close the deal losing 3-0.

Highlands started the match out well staying within striking distance of Franklin during the first set, ending with a final of 25-22. But things things went downhill for the Lady Highlanders in subsequent sets with Franklin winning 25-15, and 25-6 respectively.

Highlands Coach Desiray Schmitt said the Lady Highlanders have some things they need to work on, but they have the talent.

“Last night we just got down by a few and got in our heads,” said Schmitt. “It’s a rut we can’t seem to get out of.”

Schmitt added that Franklin is a great team and Highlands holds their own right there with the Lady Panthers, but they couldn’t finish it on Monday.

“We are a good team, but there is always room for improvements,” she said. “We’ve just gotta work on the little things that help us win.”
