Highlands JV boys basketball team takes on Swain 4 vs 4

Highlands junior varsity boys basketball team hosted Swain last month and due to illness and injury, only had 5 players able to hit the court at the start of the game.

To make things worse, Highlands Harrison Gates rolled his ankle coming down from snagging a rebound leaving Highlands with only 4 able-bodied players.

Highlands Coach Bryan Dearth said Swain’s Coach was kind enough to play the Highlanders 4 against 4.

“We just couldn’t keep up with their rather large bench,” said Dearth. “I am very proud of the boys, they continued to play hard and did the best they could.”

He added that after only 1 win in 5 games, he still feels they accomplished a great deal in preparing for varsity-level play next year.
