Installation of the much-anticipated Cashiers Greenway Ramble StoryWalk in the Village Green is complete.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. on April 2 at The Village Green picnic area, and coincides with International Children’s Book Day.
The StoryWalk was made possible through a collaboration between Vision Cashiers, The Village Green, The Albert Carlton-Cashiers Library, and The Literary Council of Cashiers.

Easter Bunny plans visit to The Village Green
The following day from 10 a.m. to noon on April 3, the Easter Bunny will be stopping by The Village Green Commons for a socially distanced visit.
Participants will have a chance to sit on the steps and get a quick mask-free photo before enjoying the StoryWalk trail and the Village Play playground. Each child will receive a free book, thanks to the generosity of the Albert Carlton-Cashiers Community Library.
Note that the event is by reservation only to place a safe limit on the number gathering. Space is limited to 35 children per 30-minute time slot. To sign up for a time slot, click HERE.
A StoryWalk provides outdoor adventure that champions reading along with family connection, health, and wellness. Pages of a story are posted at a series of stations along a trail, allowing families and friends to enjoy a story as they walk the path. It is a concept that has taken hold in many communities across the country, and due to the work of many dedicated individuals, the Cashiers community can now embrace its own version.
The national StoryWalk project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library and the Vermont Bicycle and Pedestrian Coalition.
The first installation is up and features The Coming Soon Series, which is a delightful series of 18 pages positioned on a standard base along the Ramble. The intention behind the series is to educate the public about what they can expect from this attraction for their children, and to thank the many generous donors for making it possible.

An installation to display StoryWalk pages throughout The Village Green.
Although the content of the Coming Soon Series is geared to adults, each page offers a fun, educational activity for children in both English and Spanish.
The first story, Cashiers Come Play With Me, will be installed in mid-June. It is the story of how the Cashiers Village Play came into being and is geared toward children at a second grade reading level.
Each page is offered in English and Spanish and will include activities for older children. This original book was written by Ann Self, Executive Director of the Village Green, illustrated by local artist Kat Ford, and translated into Spanish by Ana Crespo.
The Cashiers Greenway Ramble StoryWalk is a new attraction for the Cashiers community and is anticipated to bring children of all ages to the Village Green to explore, develop reading skills, and enjoy a beautiful outdoor space with family and friends.
