Summit Middle School soccer team hopped a bus up the mountain to take on Highlands and took the win with a final 2-1.
Summit Coach Jeremy Robinson said for their first game, they played pretty well.
“Definitely proud of their effort,” he said. “We are happy and grateful to have a Spring Co-Ed season and the kids are having fun, which is the most important thing.”

“We’ll take it in stride and prepare for our next opportunity to play them,” said Highlands Coach Keith McKim. “Summit hustled, they kept great position on the field, and they were well coached! The summit goalkeeper had an outstanding game, especially when you consider that we had more than three to one shots on goal and still lost the match.”

McKim added that he’s proud of Summit in spite of the loss, but there things to work on.

“We were constantly out of position, didn’t respond well to their offensive strategy, and didn’t play well individually,” said McKim. “Our players were very mature in their response to the loss, though. I thought they showed respect for the Summit team and took personal responsibility for their shortcomings. It was evident in subsequent practices. I think the most room for improvement is in our strategy and coaching, so I have my work cut out for me.”
