In memory of Theda McCall

Theda Marie Owen McCall, 71, of Cashiers, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday April 3, 2021. A native and a lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Christine Owen.

Theda was blessed with a large, loving family. She attended Heady Mt. Baptist Church and loved worshipping with her church family.  Theda retired from Cashiers Plastics after 36 years. She enjoyed traveling, music and cooking, but what she truly loved was spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years William (Junior) McCall; her daughter, Kristina McCall; her grandson, Peyton Kaylor; her granddaughter, Mia Kaylor; her siblings Barbara Dean of Cashiers; Neville (Wanda) Owen of Tuckasegee; Norman Owen of Fletcher; LaVerne (Mike) Montanez of Cashiers; Donnie (Cheryl) Owen of Cashiers and Teresa Owen of Cashiers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Theda was kind and selfless, and she was always smiling. She never met a stranger. Theda was vibrant, full of light, and enriched the lives of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday April 11 at Hamburg Baptist Church with the Revs. Josh Holden and Johnny Norris officiating.

The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening on April 9 at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva. Burial will be in Upper Zachary Cemetery in Cashiers.

  1. Jr and Christy I am solo sorry about Theta. I have many great memories of her. She made me laugh. Her accent was something else. Her kindness. Her. Humblness I will never forget. I lost my longtime partner to cancer April 22
    . long battle with cancer. How it hurts even physically. It takes your breath away. I have tried to get your phone number buy no one will give it to me so this is how I can tell you she will be. Surely missed. Love Linda McCall
