Blue Ridge Early College varsity volleyball team hosted Robbinsville for the start of the season and ended up with a loss, but the Lady Bobcats are staying positive and said it gives them a chance to improve.

“It was a learning experience instead of a loss,” said BREC Isabella Moody. “Once we get more practice, we’ll get better. And for the first game, we weren’t too bad.”
The Lady Bobcats start this season without senior starters Ella Day, Chloe Fowler, Maddy Potts, and Charlotte Sherrill and BREC Mahala Stewart said it’s a challenging transition but they’re making adjustments to try and fill that void on the court.

“It’s really difficult,” said Stewart. “We have to learn where people can play instead of walking on the court and knowing how they play. But I think gradually over time we’ll get better.”

Newcomer to the BREC varsity squad is sophomore Hayden Robinson who said she joined the team because she genuinely enjoys playing volleyball.

“For a first game, I think we played pretty good,” said Robinson. “We have some stuff to work on, but I think we’ll get better throughout the season.”
