Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center announces Duke Power Award, Robert B. Dupree Award, and Del Roberts Award.
Duke Power Award: For Volunteer of the Year
This Volunteer of the Year Award that recognizes leadership and involvement in volunteerism and community service. This year’s recipient is on the Board of the Counseling and Psychotherapy Center, volunteered in the Daily Mouse project, is a highly active member and volunteer in the Highlands Rotary, was key in the literacy councils move to its new home and currently serves as Chair of the Council. This year’s volunteer of the year is Jane Jerry.
Robert B. Dupree Award: For Outstanding Community Service
Awarded annually since 1980 and presented to a person who has a distinguished record of outstanding community service and represents the true spirit of giving selflessly to others. This year’s recipient works full time and makes time to serve as a Rotarian and president of that organization. She volunteers at local events like Highlands Food and Wine and Highlands Motoring Festival she is on the Board of the Historical Society, Performing Art Center, and Highlands-Cashiers Hospital. And has also been active in Highlands School supporting the PTO, athletic and classroom activities. This year’s recipient is Sherry Holt!
Del Roberts Award: For Outstanding Business
This year’s Del Roberts Award was created in 2005 to honor a business’ unselfish contribution to Highlands. This year’s business award goes to a local nonprofit that began in 2008 and is run entirely by volunteers. The organization donates its proceeds to other local nonprofits. This year $81,000 went to three human needs charities. The 2021 business award goes to our local motoring enthusiast at Highlands Motoring Festival!
