With the new Omicron strain and the anticipation of a post-holiday surge, it’s expected there will be a need for Covid-19 testing and vaccination services into the new year.
Therefore, Optum will continue to provide Covid-19 testing and vaccination services on the Plateau through the end of January.
Optum will be offering services in Highlands and Cashiers to support Covid-19 testing and vaccination on the following schedule:
- Covid-19 Testing at Village Green in Cashiers every Tuesday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Covid-19 Testing at Highlands Community Building every Wednesday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Covid-19 Vaccination at Highlands Rec Center every Thursday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. They will be only offering adult and pediatric Pfizer.
- FEMA Covid-19 Vaccine Clinic at Cashiers Rec Center: FEMA will conduct a drive through clinic at the Cashiers Rec Center from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10. Pediatric Pfizer (5–11-year-olds) will be available. No appointments needed or accepted. They will also offer Moderna, J&J, and Pfizer for adults and teens to include boosters.
The need to continue services beyond January will be evaluated next month.
