First-ever ‘Highlands Volunteer Fair’ takes place today

20 organizations will be on hand to connect with potential volunteers

Are you looking to get involved with a Highlands community organization?

Stop by the first-ever “Highlands Volunteer Fair” today (Thursday, May 19), from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Highlands Community Building, 71 Poplar St.

At least 18 nonprofit organizations will be on hand to share information about volunteer opportunities.

Those looking to get involved and help those in need are invited to stop by any time during fair hours, browse the tables of information and speak with representatives.

Nonprofit organizations participating in today’s event include Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Center for Life Enrichment, Highlands Biological Station, Highlands-Cashiers Hospital, Highlands Motoring Festival, Highlands Mountaintop Rotary, Highlands Historical Society’s Dazzling Dahlia Festival, Highlands Performing Arts Center (PAC), Highlands Volunteer Fire Department, Highlands Welcome Center, International Friendship Center, Macon Literacy Council, The Mountain, Mountain Findings, Mountain Theatre Company at Highlands Playhouse, Pisgah Legal, REACH of Macon County, and Warrior Survival School.

This free event is organized and hosted by The Highlands Chamber of Commerce/Visit Highlands, NC. Light refreshments will be served.
