On Saturday and Sunday, November 5 and 6, 17 members of the Highlands Hurricane Swim Team traveled to Clemson, SC to compete in the 6-team Clemson Classic swim meet. The Hurricanes brought back 105 ribbons (22 of them first places) and had 54 PRs (Personal Records).

All of the Hurricanes had at least one PR! It was an unscored meet, but the host team CAT (Clemson Aquatics Team) won 36 events, Highlands 18 and Kroc Swim Academy won 16. Ben Halldin won 8 events and had 6 PRs, Justin Powell won 5 events and had a PR. Chase Kenter won 4 events w 4 PRs, Dasha Halldin brought home 2 blue ribbons with 7 PRs.

Tate Wilson, Ivan Shchelgachov, and Anton Halldin all had 5 PRs and 2 thirds. Ian and sister Bella Batista had 3 PRs and won an event. Alex Lopez swam 3 PRs and brought home 2 second place finishes, Jack Sumner had a 1st place finish and a PR. Max Jestin had 3 PRs, Katherine Wise had 2 PRs, and Ian Kittrell swam a PR and made a 2nd place finish. Annabelle Searles and Jayce Powell had a PR. Also swimming for the Hurricanes was Stefan Halldin.
The Highlands Hurricanes are a Highlands Rec Park Swim Team that practices at the Highlands Rec Park Pool in the evenings. The only requirement to join is that prospective swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards (1 length of the Rec Park pool) unassisted.
