Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic hosted a Veterans Smile Day on Dec. 9 and provided eight veterans with a variety of comprehensive dental services, including cleanings.
The Clinic provides dental care for veterans throughout the year, but dedicates about three days annually specifically serving veterans regardless of their income or residency.
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, more than 580,000 veterans received dental care from their VA benefits last year. However, not everyone who qualifies for VA health care benefits also qualify for VA dental coverage. The BRFDC hosts these events to help supplement that gap.
Volunteers at the most recent Smile Day include Dr. Matt Corbin and Dr. Ashley Collins; and their team from Corbin Dental in Franklin.
BRFDC extended thanks to the volunteers and their team, as well as the Jackson County Veterans Office for their partnership in this effort.
