Upcoming Youth Theatre events and classes at Plateau libraries

There are two upcoming events in January and signups for winter trimester classes are now open for the Youth Theatre program at Cashiers and Highlands libraries.

Classical Musical Theatre Study & Pot-Luck Dinner

Musical Theatre Time begins today at 7 p.m. at the Cashiers Public Library.

Musical Theatre is a style that began in America. Participants will be learning about, watching, and discussing the film versions of classical musicals to learn and understand the elements that make up this genre.

When – 7-10 p.m. on Jan. 13

Where – Cashiers Library, 249 Frank Allen Rd, Cashiers

The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required as space is limited. To sign up, contact Megan Potts at MGP.YouthTheatre@gmail.com or text 828.200.0889.

An Evening of Murder, Mystery, & Dinner

An evening of murder, mystery, and dinner begins at 6 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Cashiers Public Library.

Each participant will be given a role when they sign up along with some easy costume suggestions. They will choose what piece of the pot-luck dinner they would like to bring.

Participants will be asked to solve a mystery while they share a meal and gather clues throughout the night. Everyone will arrive on the night of the event in character and in costume.

Potts said kids will get a chance to use their dramatic improvisational skills and sharpen their talents for observation (along with practicing some deductive reasoning) as they each try to puzzle out what happened and “Who Done it”.

When: 6-9 p.m. on Jan. 27

Where: Cashiers Library, 249 Frank Allen Rd, Cashiers

The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required as space is limited. To sign up, contact Megan Potts at MGP.YouthTheatre@gmail.com or text 828.200.0889.
