Lady Bobcats lose tough game to Murphy

Blue Ridge Early College girls varsity basketball team hosted Murphy on Tuesday and lost 50-68.

BREC stayed within 10 points throughout the first three quarters, but Murphy never let up and stretched the lead to 18 by the end of the game.

BREC Mahalah Stewart was recently recognized for scoring her 1,000th point during a game on Feb. 15, 2022. The presentation of the 1,000-point ball had been rescheduled and was awarded to Stewart on Nov. 29, 2022. Stewart joins other 1,000 point players in BREC’s history, including her mother Jennifer, father Jeremy, and sister Charlotte.

BREC takes on Summit on Jan. 24 on the road. Games begin at 6 p.m.
