Volunteers needed to remove invasive plants along the Highlands Greenway

Highlands Plateau Greenway needs volunteers to help remove non-native invasive plants on Saturday, Feb. 18.

Volunteers will meet at the back parking lot of the Highlands Rec Park at 9 a.m.

In partnership with the Coalition for Non-native Invasive Plant Management (CNIPM), volunteers will be removing Privet and Oriental Bittersweet from the Rec Park.

Please bring gloves, loppers, hand saws, and a determination to kill privet. This will be the first step in an effort to restore this forested area to a more beneficial landscape for our community, and the community’s help is greatly appreciated.

Crews will finish at noon and go to lunch at 4118.

Please let Sonya Carpenter know if you plan to attend at sonyacarpenter@gmail.com.
