Cashiers Historical Society announces 26th annual Cashiers Designer Showhouse

Annual Fundraiser Scheduled for Aug. 25-Sept. 2, 2023

The Cashiers Historical Society—a nonprofit that honors and protects the historical past of Cashiers, North Carolina—recently announced the 2023 Cashiers Designer Showhouse.

For 26 years, the annual Cashiers Designer Showhouse has attracted thousands of guests, fueling Cashiers’ economy and providing critically needed funds for the Cashiers Historical Society (CHS).

Taking place Aug. 25 – Sept., this year’s theme is “Historically Cashiers” and features a classic mountain retreat in The Club at High Hampton. Local residents Stacie Platt and Ellen Turner are the 2023 Co-chairs.

The 2023 Showhouse is located in Chimney Top, the newest neighborhood in the prestigious Club at High Hampton.

Recognized designers from the Cashiers-Highlands plateau and across the southeast will add their distinctive touches to a spacious 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath home. The Showhouse is custom-built and showcases a variety of well-designed work and play spaces, such as a great room, a yoga room, a bunk and playroom, and a fabulous outdoor living area featuring a porch, grill, and much more.

“We are thrilled to represent this year’s Showhouse, a time-honored tradition for Cashiers that highlights the best in interior design and supports our beloved historical society,” share co-chairs Platt and Turner. “This house is the perfect mountain getaway for multi-generational family visits. We cannot wait for you to see what our talented designers do with each space!”

Through thoughtful educational platforms and the preservation of the Zachary-Tolbert House, Col. John’s Cabin, the dependency, and the Hampton School, CHS maintains the area’s historical legacy. The Showhouse is the historical society’s largest annual fundraiser, providing vital funds for operations, educational programming, and the preservation of its historical buildings and grounds.

Special Showhouse events begin on Thursday, August 24, with an Opening Night Patron Party at Halsted House at High Hampton. Serving as the kick-off celebration for the Showhouse, this party will feature dinner and dancing and is chaired by Drew English for the second year in a row. Tickets to the Opening Night Patron Party are available through Benefactor Packages and Corporate Sponsorships. Last year, the Opening Party sold-out so early commitments are encouraged.

Following the Opening Night Party, the Showhouse will be open daily to the public Friday, August 25 – Saturday, September 2. Lectures and presentations highlighting design and entertaining will be offered and a variety of shopping will be available through the event’s nine days. Highly regarded vendors will offer unique lifestyle items from apparel and antiques to home décor. A list of designers, special events, and vendors will be available at a later date.
