Macon County BoE selects new superintendent, Baldwin set to retire

The Macon County Board of Education recently announced that Joshua Lynch has been selected to serve as the district’s next Superintendent, effective July 1, 2023.

Current Superintendent Dr. Chris Baldwin will officially retire on Sept. 1, 2023.

As a product of the Macon County School System, Lynch has a compelling desire to give back to the community in which he lives and serves.

During the beginning of Lynch’s career, he served Macon County Schools as a 3rd Grade Elementary Education Teacher at Cowee Elementary School.

In 2011, Lynch was named Assistant Principal at East Franklin Elementary School.

In 2013, Lynch was named Principal at Cartoogechaye Elementary School.

In 2020, Lynch was named Director of Federal Programs, Testing & Accountability, and K-12 Curriculum Director for the Macon County School System.

In 2021, Mr. Lynch was named Associate Superintendent for the Macon County School System.
