Blue Ridge Early College boys varsity soccer team started their season on Monday by taking on Franklin on the road and lost a tough game 5-0. At halftime, the score was 1-0.

“First half was played very well,” said BREC Coach Nick Pressler. “The second half we played with some adjustments and tried some other formations. Being a first game, this was a good measuring stick of where we are at as a program.”

Having a deeper bench may have been a factor for the Panthers as the heat was in the high 80s on the field.
“Heat may have played a part in the second half,” said Pressler. “We are not as conditioned as where I think we need to be, but it’s a first game and a lot of good came out of it. The group played well as a whole. Gustavo our GK played lights out and kept the score as close as possible.”
