BGCP visits Rotary Club of Highlands

The Rotary Club of Highlands hosted guest speaker Carmen Waite, CEO of The Boys and Girls Club of the Plateau at Tuesday’s meeting.

BGCP’s mission is “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”

BGCP aims to accomplish this by giving young people, through several different ways, a place to go to study and learn, and get knowledge of life skills in a safe and structured environment.

The kids involved have someplace to go after school rather than to a home where parents are at work, and the children would be spending unsupervised time.

BGCP leadership is hoping to open a location in the Jane Woodruff Building on the campus of the Highlands Cashiers Hospital in January that can serve 60 to 80 children of the Highlands community.
