A Christmas Day tradition that began over twenty years ago was revived by some old-time veterans, who were joined by two Highlands Rotary clubs, The Rotary Club of Highlands and The Mountaintop Rotary.
After a three-year absence, the Highlands Annual Christmas Dinner came roaring back to the delight of the many attendees.
As it has been in the past, the dinner had a twofold purpose. One to provide a traditional Christmas Day dinner to Highlanders and visitors in the absence of many local restaurants who were closed on Christmas Day, and to be a fundraiser for local nonprofits.
The “old veterans” provided the guidance to put the logistics together, and our Rotaries provided much needed skills and a lot of manpower.
The combined efforts resulted in the dinner donating $12K each to The Literacy and Learning Center, The Highlands Community Child Development Center, and The Gordon Center.
Congratulations to the Rotaries and everyone involved, and thanks to the nonprofit recipients who do so much to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the children they serve.
