Highlands Fire and Rescue held its annual open house earlier this August. To add to the festivities, HFR celebrated its 65th year. Families and visitors were able to enjoy rides on the fire truck, listen to live music, and eat free hot dogs.
“This is an outstanding tradition HFR has long been doing,” said Macon County Commissioner Jimmy Tate. “It’s good for the community to come up and meet the fireman and see the facilities. Watching the kids’ eyes light up as they get on the truck is pretty special.”
