Oct. 8

  • Whiteside Brewery Tour, Libraries on Tap: Libraries on Tap scavenger hunt event. Join us at the newest brewery in Jackson County, Whiteside Brewing Company, for a tasting and tour with Brewmeister Dieter Kuhn. Tour starts at 4 p.m., enjoy a flight of beer and complimentary sticker while you hear about the brewing process and the beers that are created onsite, cost is $8. Don’t forget to bring your Libraries on Tap passport and receive your scavenger hunt stamp. If you can not make it today don’t freight, Whiteside will be offering the special Library on Tap flight and complimentary sticker from 10/8-11/13 and an open opportunity to receive a stamp through out! Oct. 11

  • Library Catalog Changes Set for October 11-15: From Thursday, October 11 through Monday, October 15, the N.C. Cardinal library catalog (shared by Fontana Regional Library and more than 160 libraries across the state) will undergo necessary maintenance and upgrading. During that time, the online catalog will not be fully available either to patrons or to library staff.

Mary Z Cox at Albert Carlton-Cashiers Community Library presents an Evening of Dulcimer & Beyond at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 11.

  • The Albert Carlton – Cashiers Community Library is thrilled to welcome back mountain dulcimer whizzkid and recording artist, Mary Z Cox, for an Evening of Dulcimer & Beyond. At 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, Mary Z will bring several of her rare and custom dulcimers including the “Lady With A Checkered Past” for tunes and songs, and of course, there will be banjo too.

  • Southern Highlands: will perform at Friday Night Live from 6-8 p.m. at Town Square in Highlands.

Oct. 13

  • Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society: Hosts its 4th Annual CHHA Forever Family Reunion from 1-3 p.m. at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park in Highlands, N.C.
