Highlands United Methodist Church held their annual luncheon and fall pumpkin sale this weekend and guests stopped by for a hot dog and some pumpkins. Money raised through the festive sale helps offset the cost of two missions trips HUMC youth groups will be embarking on in 2019, one to Haiti and one to Atlanta, Ga.
“The support has been great,” said Christine Murphy, director of children and youth at HUMC. “The kids going on the missions run the sales. Businesses have been just great, people are just walking up and donating money. It’s always a good outpouring from this community.”
About 6-8 middle to high-school aged children will go on the missions with another group from Highlands.
The pumpkins will remain on sale until they are sold out, which Murphy said is usually by the end of October.
