Holiday cheer trumps rain at Highlands Old Mountain Christmas Parade

Steady rain drizzled on Main Street in downtown Highlands for the Old Mountain Christmas Parade on Saturday,  but folks watching and participating did not let that dampen the spirit of the season.

Pictured below are camels, a donkey and sheep that joined the Wise Men and their helpers on Saturday in downtown Highlands.

Pictured below are members of the Mountain Garden Club who wowed parade goers along Main Street for the 21st year with their dance choreographed by Club President Anne Brissey.

Pictured below are some of Highlands Homecoming Court members who participated in the parade and attended the Homecoming Dance on Saturday evening.

Pictured below are Highlands School cheerleaders who strapped on ponchos and psyched up parade goers along Main Street. The cheerleading team is lead by Highlands School Teacher and Coach Kristin Huneycutt who choreographs all of the team’s dance moves and stunts.

Pictured below is the Literacy Council’s Grinch float and several staff, board members, and volunteers who helped pass out over 5,000 books to children at the Christmas Parade and Halloween in Highlands. The grant for the books was made possible by MountainTop Rotary Club of Highlands.
