Highlands girls varsity basketball team loses to Hiwassee Dam

It was a tough fight, but the Lady Highlanders couldn’t pull off the win against Hiwassee Dam on Wednesday losing 53-34.

“We started off great,” said Head Coach Jake Page. “Our shots were falling, we had pressure on the ball, but we didn’t execute the way we needed to.”

Highlands may have started out strong, but things started heading downhill in the second half.

“When you play a good team like Hiwassee Dam you can’t let up on them, and our defense wasn’t the best,” said Page.

Highlands Chela Green and Jordan Carrier each put up 10-points, followed by Haley Borino with 6-points. Page he’s confident in his team and is optimistic about the future.

“It’s still early in the season,” said Page. “We’ll play our game, settle down, and we’ll be fine.”

Hiwassee Dam doesn’t make it easy for Highlands Haley Borino to get to the hoop.

Highlands played away against Tallulah Falls on Dec. 14 and lost 63-58. Their next game is at 5:45 p.m. at home tonight (Dec. 17) against East Henderson.
