Summit Charter School holds Roundup concert

Summit Charter School held its celebratory Roundup in which Kindergarten through 5th-grades gave a musical offering in the Summit Virtue of Giving on Dec. 19. Those who attended listened to some of the sounds of the season with songs including “Christmas is Coming, the Goose is Getting Fat,” “Jingle Bells,” and other secular holiday favorites.

Summit Charter School held a celebratory Roundup concert on Wednesday morning.

Interim Director Summit Charter School Billy Leonard said the concert was a chance to celebrate the holiday spirit.

“This morning, kindergarten through fifth grade students, as well as Summit’s middle school choir, performed seasonal songs for the school body, faculty and staff, and parents and friends of the school,” said Leonard. “K-5 students were directed by Mr. Bart Gilleland (affectionately known as ‘Mr. G’) and the middle school choir is directed by Mr. Jesse Loyd. A favorite selection was the John Denver with the Muppets version of ‘Christmas is Coming the Goose is Getting Fat’, which the kindergarten, first, and second grade students sang in a round! Other holiday favorites included, ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ and ‘O Christmas Tree’, among others. Parents, faculty, friends, and students sang along and cheered at the end of every song; a wonderful Christmas spirit pervaded the entire program!”
