Highlands girls varsity basketball team loses heartbreaker to Rosman

Highlands girls varsity basketball team fought hard at home on Friday against Rosman, but ended up with a loss after Rosman stole the ball and scored at the buzzer sealing the deal at 41-38.

Highlands lost in a heartbreaker against Rosman at home on Friday. The scoreboard is mid-change, the final was 41-38.

Highlands Coach Jake Page said it was a tough game and things didn’t start coming together until the second half.

“Too many turnovers hurt and shots weren’t falling for us,” he said. “We had open looks, but just couldn’t convert. We have to find a way to start out the game stronger. Can’t wait to start playing in the second half.”

Page added that it’s still early in the season and losses like this are good experience for the Lady Highlanders.

“It definitely wasn’t our best game, but hopefully we can learn from it and find ways to get better and keep working hard,” he said. “Still a long season ahead of us and I wouldn’t trade my team for anyone.”

Highlands next plays Towns County on the road at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
