Highlands JV boys basketball team loses to Hayesville

Highlands junior varsity boys basketball team hosted Hayesville on Monday but lost to the Yellow Jackets 47-27.

Highlands Coach Bryan Dearth said it was a frustrating game.

“The foul count was off and I’m frustrated at the officials,” said Dearth. “After the first half we got in our heads and didn’t play our game.”

Highlands takes on Cherokee at home at 4 p.m. on Friday and Dearth said the Braves are a tough team but the Highlanders can take the win.

“Should be a good game, as long as we play together as a team all four quarters, we’ll beat them,” he said.
