MAMA airlifts victim from Blue Ridge School after fall at construction site

Glenville-Cashiers Rescue Squad brought a victim to be airlifted from Blue Ridge School to Mission Hospital in Asheville after falling from a construction site in Glenville on Monday afternoon.

GCRS responded to call at 4:29 p.m. reporting a man had fallen 20-25 feet at a construction site.

MAMA crews load the victim into the helicopter to be transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Details are limited and his condition was not available to the public as of Monday evening when he was airlifted to the hospital at approx. 5:45 p.m. by Mountain Area Medial Airlift (MAMA).

GCRS Public Affairs Officer Nat Turner said any fall from that height could be serious.

“There’s all kinds of presumption of injury with a fall of 20-25 feet,” said Turner. “We get them out and when we hand them off, it’s out of our hands.”
