Highlands Middle School soccer team played against Swain on the Road on March 15 and won 10-1.
“I thought the team played great,” said Highlands Coach Keith McKim. “They showed a lot of heart and hustle, which is always a great start to any season.”

Highlands Kevin Torres scored 3 goals, Bryan Jarquin scored 2, Isaiah Vilardo scored 1, Fiinneaus Gardner scored 1, Aislynn Luck scored 1, Jim De La Cruz scored 1, and late in the game Swain had an own goal.

McKim said the team was excited to get out on the field and get the season started.
“I want the thank all the administrators at the school and county levels for making this season happen,” he said. “I think the student athletes need this outlet to let out some bottled-up energy and just have fun!”

Highlands had a little over a week to practice and McKim said there’s plenty to work on, including their corner kick offense after several missed opportunities against Swain.
