The Lady Highlanders varsity soccer team hosted Hayesville on April 7 and won a solid victory ending with a final 8-1.
Highlands Anne Marie Moore said when they build up a solid lead like the one against Hayesville, Coach Caleb Brown likes to switch things up.

“Coach will put us in different positions to get a different perspective of the field,” said Moore. “But when you have a lead like that, you have to try harder to keep up the intensity and don’t kick the ball just to kick it, kick it with purpose.”
Powerhouse in the midfield, Highlands Julia May Schmitt attributes some of their chemistry on the field to what they do off the field.

“We’re all just so close,” said Schmitt. “If we weren’t playing soccer together, we’d be hanging out anyway. It always works better when you have that kind of bond.”
