Highlanders MS soccer team takes down Summit in season opener

Highlands Middle School soccer team defeated Summit at home in the season opener with a final of 3-2 on Aug. 30.

Highlands Coach Kieth McKim said they played well in their first game and they have their entire season to work on improvements.

“I am optimistic about our season,” said McKim. “Many of our players are returning from last year, which gives us a chance to build on what we learned. All of our work is still ahead of us, but I’m looking forward to having a lot of fun with this team!”

Summit Coach Scott Whitman said it was a close game and the Bears played tough.“We had a slow start in the first half giving up two goals,” said Whitman. “In most of the second half our team really showed what they had to bring at the game level. I think our team has a lot of talent, with a few role adjustments I believe the rest of the season will go well.”
